After a rough day, sometimes all you really need to lift your spirits is to happen upon a brass band playing on the corner on your bike ride home. (My other more expensive suggestion is retail therapy.)
I think I'd enjoy a spontaneous band performance every now and then. We get the lone guitarist every so often in the Pavilion's parking lot - she sings folk songs.
