Last week the director of our office was dog-sitting for someone who works in the accessibility office at the Smithsonian. Steeler (the dog) used to be the service dog for someone in the office until he retired, but everyone in the office liked him so much that someone else in the office adopted him. And even though he has retired, he still comes to the office every day and continues to wear his service vest. This kills me. Steeler is like 11 years old, and he still gets dressed up for work! He is super obedient and gentle and will lay down on you if you are sitting on the floor and lick your knees if you are wearing a skirt (not that I know this from experience). He also has other special skills, like using his museum voice. Seriously—if you ask him to use his museum voice, he will bark very, very softly.
He tired of doing tricks very quickly though, and mostly spent the day sleeping next to or under my coworker Meg's desk:
Steeler left yesterday morning and it was a sad way to start the week. Now I am trying to figure out how we can make a good case for having an office dog.
I love Steeler! He came to visit our office a couple weeks ago!

ReplyDeletesecretly i'm scared of dogs because i feel like i never know what they're really thinking, but i have to say....steeler definitely seems like he would be my kind of dog. hope you guys can figure out how to get an office dog asap! :)
